What We Do

Morehouse Mental Health Ambassador Program

The Morehouse Mental Health Ambassador Program (MMAP) is a peer-to-peer model of support for the mental health needs of the students and educators of 麻豆影院. This program allows educators and students to learn and be equipped with the knowledge needed to recognize mental health vulnerabilities in themselves and in their peers, relate and identify expressed needs, and make appropriate referrals to Counseling Services, or to a resource within the Community.

Eligibility

• Currently enrolled Morehouse students, who attend their classes predominantly on-campus.  
• Time commitment, strong organizational skills, and communication skills.  
• Ability to work well and be respectful while working with a diverse group of individuals.  
• Displays an elevated level of responsibility, maturity, and empathy.  
• Motivated towards change for the current mental health situation and an interest in mental health issues overall.  
• Minimum GPA requirement of 3.0.

 Responsibilities & Time Commitment

• Commit 15鈥�20 hours per month to MMAP for the full academic year.
• Attend bi-weekly one-hour meetings with MMAP Director, and weekly ambassador-only meetings.
• Complete required basic helping skills and QPR training and training.
• Participate in or support two outreach events per month.
• Plan and facilitate fall and spring Legacy Events in continuation of prior cohorts鈥� work.
• Manage the Archer 311 Meditation Room after hours.
• Assist in expanding MCCS鈥檚 local and national preferred provider list.
• Create social media content for review and publication by MCCS staff.
• Write, publish, and disseminate the Monthly Newsletter.
• Support and facilitate mental health and substance use screening days.

The selection process for the 2026 鈥� 2027 ambassador cohort will begin in March 2026. You can apply to be a mental health ambassador by clicking . Application deadline is March 31, 2026.

We appreciate you taking the time to encourage mental health education among the 麻豆影院 community. To ensure we can staff your event in the most efficient and effective way, please complete the .

Please note that requests be made three weeks in advance of the anticipated event date to ensure staffing availability.

Self-Guided Therapeutic Activities

• Five (5) Meditation Rooms located across campus:
  • Counseling Center (2 鈥� Brazeal Basement): 9 AM 鈥� 12 PM & 1 鈥� 5 PM, Monday 鈥� Friday
  • Archer Hall 311 (3^rd Floor): 5:30 鈥� 9:30, Monday 鈥� Friday
  • Student Conduct Office (107 Gloster Hall): Tuesday 12 鈥� 5 PM / Thursday 11 AM 鈥�5 PM
  • Career Services Lounge: 9:30 AM 鈥� 4:30 PM, Monday 鈥� Friday
• Four (4) Study Pods (Counseling Center Conference Room)
• Healthy Snacks Lounge
• Therapeutic Activity Space (Counseling Center Lobby)

To support students during breaks between academic semesters and the transitional period following graduation, MCCS has curated a list of community providers who are ready to receive and support the Morehouse community beyond campus!
