guardian

php/hy.jpg

well i finished two paintings today! "this war is over" and "guardian". of course they were both very close to done
when i started this morning but then i had a delay 'cause the overhead light in my studio went out. got my future
son inlaw to come over and replace the bulbs.................but still no light! so now i'm using my photo bulb that's
mounted to an IV stand to work by until i can get an electrician over.
i'll be painting at the gallery tomorrow after going to my grandson's baseball game and i expect to get alot done
on the girlie-on-copper painting since she's ready for glazes now. i'll post a pic after working on her tomorrow.

so here's a picture of the finished "guardian". i did the final glazing with this groovy transparent garnet that is just
so yummy i want to eat it! it gave her the pink glow without being too ...

this war is over

php/IMG_2704.JPG

well my painter-friend cyn mccurry went home to texas. bummer! i miss her in my studio! anyway......today i about finished
the guy painting i've been working on and even came up with a name for him, "this war is over". i put a green glaze on him
but then worked in alizarin crimson in the shadow areas. after that was a bit tacky to the touch i lightly scumbled cyan over the
highlighted parts. he's pretty groovy right now, just need to wait for him to dry and then work the shadows over the strings
tying him.
all i seem to want to paint recently is people that are tied up but i've also had my childhood alot on my mind so that
probably is influencing my paint choices. now i have to get the images onto paper that i had in my dreams last night...............
very interesting.

new daisy girl painting

php/IMG_2616.JPG

well, i started this but the underpainting is still too wet to glaze! bummer!!! i'm just dying to get working on her. the addition of a flower is a new thing for me as i haven't painted flowers with a figure, but i really think the juxtaposition between the innocent daisy and the ties on her is really interesting........at least it is for me.......so i might go with it for awhile. try a couple more figures with flowers that are significant......... hmmmmmmmmm, yet a different wrinkle in reality.

crow painting

php/IMG_2620.JPG

busy busy busy!!!!! i went to visit family in new jersey and it seems i've been running ever since i got back! i have been in the studio though and this morning dug out a crow that i'd started awhile ago.........it's so greyed! it really needs some pure color, but i have to glaze up to that, so i put an over-all red glaze and worked into it. i need to suspend the ball now........huge fun, i love it when it gets to the point of putting in my strings. i really think everything and everybody should be tied to something in my paintings, much as we all are in life. it's been my experience at least, that i'm constantly pulled on by things in the past, or even imagined things in the future. some with the power to affect me, some not anything but a random thought wrinkle in ...
